INTRODUCING THE MODERN CLASSICS SHOP THE COLLECTION

At Home with Leona: Print, Passion, and a 1950s Farmhouse Sanctuary

There is an undeniable synergy between the way we dress and the way we live. For fashion legend Leona Edmiston, the philosophy that drives her iconic collections, a lifelong love affair with bold prints, vibrant storytelling, and effortless elegance, is stitched directly into the fabric of her rural New South Wales home.

Recently, the team at Belle Magazine stepped inside the stunning Southern Highlands property Leona shares with her husband, Jeremy Ducker, and their daughters, Dusty and Dylan. Beautifully captured across the 11 page spread, the feature reveals a home that is intimate, deeply human, and a pure reflection of the Leona Edmiston lifestyle.

A Living Archive of Print and Pattern

Stepping into any room in the homestead feels like wandering through a beautifully curated textile archive. Leona’s decorating style is entirely intuitive; rather than following rigid interior design trends, she allows a single vintage swatch, a colour palette, or a striking pattern to dictate the mood of a room.

Having sourced antique prints globally since the 1980s, her personal collection of rare wallpapers, fabric scraps, and discontinued textiles has found a permanent stage.

  • The Dining Room: Features a striking, climbing ivy wallpaper that brings the outdoors in, paired with elegant cane-back dining chairs wrapped in coordinating verdant textiles

  • The Master Bedroom: A romantic sanctuary wrapped in a delicate, floor-to-ceiling fuchsia vine motif, mirroring the matching drapery and bedding

As Leona told Belle, pattern is a direct reflection of mood: "If you're feeling great, you can go for something strong and bright; if you're feeling subdued, you can tone it right back."

The Joy of the Hunt-and-Gather

Nothing in the Edmiston-Ducker home feels manufactured or mass-produced; every corner sings with history. Leona is a self-confessed "hunt-and-gather" decorator, spending her weekends tracking down treasures at local auction houses like Vickers & Hoad and the beloved Dirty Janes emporium in Bowral.

The home serves as a gallery for these curated collections, from the spectacular gallery wall of vintage ceramic plates to intricate bone-inlay chests, Murano glass, and cloisonné pieces. It’s a reminder that a beautiful home, much like a signature wardrobe, is built over time through pieces that carry genuine meaning and memories.

A Living, Breathing Canvas Outdoors

While Leona orchestrates the interiors, Jeremy’s creative canvas is the surrounding land. Transforming 10 hectares into a balanced, structured paradise was a herculean task, Jeremy originally removed 150 trees, replacing them with 300 more to achieve the perfect harmony of cottage gardens and windbreaks.

Today, the working farm is a thriving agri-tourism venture, boasting a commercial-scale market garden, stone fruit orchards, and a spectacular dedicated cutting garden designed to ensure Leona’s indoor vases are always brimming with fresh blooms

Bring the Leona Lifestyle Home

What makes this feature in Belle Magazine so special is that it demystifies the idea of "high design". Leona and Jeremy have created a space that is undeniably luxurious, yet completely lived-in, cozy, and warm. It’s a beautiful reminder to be fearless with the things you love, whether that’s a bold paisley dress or a room wrapped entirely in florals.
